The Vornado OZI42 is a 42-inch tower fan engineered to circulate air through an entire room. Its specifications list 2465 CFM from a 61 watt motor, the highest air volume of any tower in our guide, and it pairs that with smooth 70 degree oscillation. It is our top pick for large rooms on our list of tower fans, with a 4.3 out of 5 average from 258 ratings.
Our Verdict
The OZI42 is the fan for large living rooms and open floor plans, where moving a lot of air matters more than whisper-quiet operation. Push-button controls and a remote cover five speeds and a 1 to 8 hour timer, and Vornado backs it with up to 5 years of replacement support if it does not meet expectations.
It has no sleep mode, no published noise rating and a narrower 70 degree sweep. In a nursery or for a light sleeper, a quiet DC tower is a better fit.

Airflow and Coverage
Vornado combines high-velocity airflow with 70 degree oscillation and engineers the OZI42 to circulate air throughout the entire room instead of blowing in one direction. The specifications list 2465 CFM, the most of any tower we cover.
That makes it a natural choice for a large living room, a family room or an open kitchen and dining area.
Controls
Intuitive push-button controls on the fan select from 5 speeds, and the included remote adjusts settings from anywhere in the room. There is no app, display dimming or sleep mode, which keeps operation simple.
Energy Saving Timer
The 1 to 8 hour timer lets you run the fan efficiently and switch it off automatically. The specifications list a 61 watt motor, modest for the amount of air it moves.
Support
Vornado’s support promise is unusual: if the product does not meet your expectations, the company will replace it for up to 5 years. Vornado designs and supports its fans in Andover, Kansas, and the OZI42 is built for U.S. voltage.
How It Compares
Against Vornado’s OSC84, the OZI42 adds a fifth speed and lists far more airflow, while the OSC84 offers V-Flow whole-room circulation as an alternative to oscillation. The OZI42DC adds a DC motor and 99 speeds for more money.
Against DREO’s indoor and outdoor tower, the Vornado lists more air volume and simpler controls, while the DREO adds smart features, a quiet DC motor and 150 degree oscillation.
Who It Suits Best
The OZI42 suits large rooms and households that want a straightforward, powerful tower with strong manufacturer support. It is less suited to bedrooms where low noise matters most.
Setup and Everyday Use
Put the OZI42 at the edge of a large room, pointed across the seating area, and let it oscillate. Start on a middle speed and use the remote to step up on hot afternoons.
Because it is built for U.S. voltage and certified for use in the U.S., it plugs into any standard outlet. Clean the intake regularly, as with any fan, to keep its airflow at full strength.
Set the timer for the hours you are in the room so the fan does not run in an empty space.
