About WikiCooling
WikiCooling is an independent research site for home cooling and air quality. We help US homeowners and renters compare window, portable, through-the-wall and mini-split air conditioners, fans, and dehumidifiers before they buy.
What we publish
- Best of guides that compare several products against clearly stated criteria.
- Single product reviews that assess one product from its listed specifications and buyer feedback.
- Sizing and buying guides that explain cooling capacity, room size, installation type, noise, and energy use in plain language.
How we work
We research products using manufacturer specifications, product listings, energy program data where it exists, and buyer feedback. We do not claim to have installed, run, or measured the products we write about. Our process is described on the How We Review page and our standards are set out in the Editorial Policy.
Who writes WikiCooling
WikiCooling is written by the WikiCooling Editorial Team. We use AI tools to help draft articles from manufacturer specifications, product listings, and buyer feedback. A person reviews and edits each article before it is published and is accountable for what appears on the site. The Editorial Team byline describes this process. It does not stand for an individual HVAC expert, and we do not use invented author profiles.
How the site is funded
WikiCooling earns commissions when you buy through links to Amazon. This does not change what we recommend or how we rank products. Read the full Affiliate Disclosure.
Safety first
Air conditioners draw a lot of power and window units are heavy. We repeat the manufacturer instructions on electrical requirements and mounting plainly, and we point out when a job, such as a mini-split installation, calls for a licensed technician.
