The Holmes 16-Inch Digital Stand Fan pairs a remote and digital controls with 3 speeds, 3 modes, a 7.5-hour timer and 80 degree oscillation. Holmes backs it with a 3-year limited warranty, and it holds a 4.2 out of 5 average from 6,312 ratings among the pedestal fans we cover.
Our Verdict
This Holmes is a well-equipped bedroom fan for a modest price. Normal, Sleep and Breeze modes, a 7.5-hour timer and a remote cover the comforts, and Holmes rates it at only 58 decibels on the strongest speed. The 3-year warranty is longer than most rivals offer.
Its maximum height is 44 inches, lower than Lasko’s 18-inch fans, so it blows at bed and desk height.

Airflow and Coverage
Holmes quotes up to 16.4 ft/sec and 1,700 CFM, and motorized 80 degree oscillation sweeps it across a bedroom, office or living room. The head tilts 30 degrees.
The height adjusts from 37 to 44 inches.
Modes and Noise
Normal, Sleep and Breeze modes change how the fan delivers air, and the 7.5-hour timer switches it off for you. Holmes rates it at only 58 decibels on the strongest speed, which it compares to normal conversation.
It draws just 37 watts.
Warranty
Holmes covers the fan with a 3-year limited warranty, three times the usual 1 year on stand fans in this class.
Placement Tips
Place a stand fan a few feet from your seat or bed and set the height so the head clears furniture. Oscillation spreads the air across a room, while a fixed head gives you a steady breeze.
In the evening, set the fan near an open window to pull in cooler outside air, or aim it toward a doorway to push warm air out of the room.
Running Costs and Care
AC stand fans draw more power on high than DC fans, so the lowest speed that keeps you comfortable saves the most. A timer stops the fan running all night when you only need it to fall asleep.
Wipe the blades and grilles every few weeks during the season and check that the head and pole are tight. A clean, tight fan runs quieter and wobbles less.
How It Compares
Against the Amazon Basics 16-inch fan, the Holmes adds a longer timer, a published noise figure and a 3-year warranty, while the Amazon Basics fan reaches higher.
Against Holmes’ vintage metal fan, this model is lighter and cheaper, while the vintage model adds an all-metal chrome body.
